History
Distillery Studios was founded in february of 2024 where Oliver found a 90 square meter property to start opperations. The first 5 weeks were dedicated to renovations, building a bathroom, getting running water, fixing and setting up propper electricity and most importabtly acoustic treatment. By april everything was functional, a DAC, additional preamps, monitors and essential microphones were aquired, but still, the entire setup was quite primitive…but functional.
Throughout 2024 more renovations were done. Everything was painted and new ceiling lights were installed which dramatically improved mood and setting, it became cozy and homely. In the summer, better monitors were bought amongst other quality-of-life gadgets that elevated production quality significally.
At the end of 2024, major renovation plans started that would be continued in chunks untill spring. A 576 piece wooden cube diffuser was built for the ceiling above the listening position, which also symmetrized the ceiling and laid the foundation for PA system hooks. Next the recording booth was redone entirely, with an entire wall turned into an acoustic absorber, a cloud was built which houses the lights and a floating deep acoustic panel was installed for further breakup of modal frequencies and extra flexibility in recordings.
Aditionally a big dark curtain was hung up to seperate the live room from the “kitchen” area which really elevated the professionalism and layout. Lastly, all of the acoustic panels in the live/controll room got a new look and extra diffusion functionality. This finalized the theme, mood and feeling of Distillery, both athmospherically and acousticly, and is the final and current version of the studio.

The Studio
About Distillery Studios
Distillery Studios is a recording, production, mixing and mastering studio where time is invested in gettting everything right. Weather its is mic choice, number of takes, mix revisions or making sure a master is ready. Nothing is rushed or hastened… unless a rush job with a strickt deadline comes along.
Distillery is a 90 square meter studio with a live- controll room combo and a recording semi iso-room. A small kitchen is there with a esspresso machine ,a fridge and a microwave to accomidate any refreshments during sessions. Special attention was given to the acoustics to preserve live and presence and to not make them damp and boring.
The persuit of perfection in art is impossible, only colour and characteristics matters, and the rest is personal taste. Distillery Studios understands this very well and every project done there has Oliver working WITH artists to accomplish their goal in the most comfortable yet professional way.
Mersier
The Band
Oliver is a member of the band Mersier where he is the drummer. Mersier has their headquarters at Distillery, where they practise, write, have meetings and produce their material.
Mersier started in 2019 and was fully formed with all its members in 2022 and subsequently realesed their first album in 2023.
At that time they were renting a practice space and with almost no ways to make propper demos they worked with what they had and invested into making their album. Now things are different for them since there is no financial ristrictions in place to hinder their writing and production of music.
Mersier is a ambient rock / progressive metal band where members are born between 2001 and 1995.
The members are; Aðalgeir Aðalgeirsson, Dagur Alexandersson, Ingi Sigurður, Oliver Konstantínus and Sævar Snorrason.
